Two Amazing Female Illustrators: Jessica and Katie

As you might know by my other illustrations, I've been leaning toward a more graphic look.Usually characterized by high contrast and vector based images. Below are two female illustrators that really have inspired me in both their approach, and their community involvement.

The number of illustrators visible on the web are finally getting as much buzz as CSS galleries once did and are finally—and rightfully, coming into the design fold. Katie kirk's work has been added to my list of inspirations. Although I usually do darker, austere color harmonies, I envy how light and accessible her work can be.

Jessica Hische

Another one to watch is Jessica Hische. She went to school for design but found that creating illustrations and lettering was a craft she was unknowingly passionate about (and gifted). Her style has a wonderful color palette that is pretty constant and has remained her own. Her forms have a whimsical, yet geometric approach. She has recently started a new personal goal called Daily Drop Cap, where users can download custom made drop caps to use on websites. What a thoughtful act.
